Marcy Donnelly and Chris Buerger, 50 and 52, combined their last names when they wed in 2000. AdvertisementThis as-told-to essay is based on a conversation with Marcy Donnager. It started as a joke, then we realized it made senseNone of it seemed real, so we made up names for ourselves. But our adopted names didn't suit our last names, Donnelly and Buerger. Then, once we had our marriage certificate, we used it in the court proceeding to legally change our names to Donnager.

In addition Cedar Point, its flagship theme park in Sandusky, Ohio, Cedar Fair owns Knott’s Berry Farm in California, Schlitterbahn water park in Texas and Canada’s Wonderland in Ontario. Cedar Fair said the combined company will allow management to ramp up investments in the parks, which should help boost demand. A new estimate says the record summer heat in Texas cost the state's economy $24 billion. AdvertisementAdvertisementThe Lone Star State's punishing and record-breaking heat wave, coupled with an unyielding drought, significantly affected local businesses and, by extension, the state's economy. For every 1-degree increase in average summer temperature, Texas sees a 0.4% slowdown in its annual nominal GDP growth. Notable establishments like Schlitterbahn, SeaWorld, and Six Flags blamed their dips in summer visitors on the heat wave. Kyle Williams/Seaworld San Diego/Handout via REUTERS Acquire Licensing RightsOct 25 (Reuters) - SeaWorld San Diego has welcomed the hatching of an emperor penguin for the first time in 13 years, announcing on Wednesday that the female chick came out of its shell with help from zoo staff on Sept. 12. Some 300 penguins of several species live in the zoo's penguin habitat, but SeaWorld staff took special pride in the emperor hatching, said Melissa Ramsey, SeaWorld's supervisor of birds who helped hatch the penguin. The emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) is the biggest of all penguin species, and can reach 3.7 feet (1.15 meter) in height and weigh up to 99 lb (45 kg), according to the World Wildlife Fund (WWF). Unlike other species that produce multiple eggs a year, the emperor female lays only one egg once a year, Ramsey said in a telephone interview.

CNN —US stocks typically see their worst performance of the year in September, but there are signs the market could avoid a steep downturn this time around. This month has been the worst for stocks on average since 1928, according to Yardeni Research. That’s partly because, much like August, there is a lull in economic data that could catalyze a stock rally. While stocks fell roughly 2% in August, they still outperformed their 4% loss during the same month last year. Ron DeSantis on Monday said that Disney CEO Bob Iger should drop his company's lawsuit accusing the Republican governor of political retaliation. They're going to lose that lawsuit," DeSantis said in an interview with CNBC's "Last Call" set to air in full at 7 p.m. "So what I would say is, drop the lawsuit," the governor said when asked what he would tell Iger if he were to give him a call today. They have not had the same special privileges as you have," DeSantis said he'd tell Iger. But I'm not fine with giving extraordinary privileges, you know, to one special company at the exclusion of everybody else," he said.

Generally speaking, orcas in the wild do not pose a threat to humans. But the boat encounters are still dangerous, and swimming with a massive wild animal can be risky. Generally speaking, killer whales do not pose much of a threat to humans. The Iberian population members targeting boats also do not seem to be interested in humans, Strager noted. However, Strager said it's impossible to draw any conclusions about wild orcas based on the behavior of captive orcas, as they are in such an artificial environment.

An orca repeatedly rammed a yacht in the Shetland Islands, a sailor told the Guardian. The attack follows a series of orca incidents around the Iberian peninsula. The 72-year-old Dutch physicist, an experienced sailor, said he had heard about orca incidents around Portugal, adding that he found the loud breathing of the orca the "most frightening." While many boat interactions with orcas in the area have been harmless, killer whales have increasingly rammed and even sank boats. The rising number of incidents has left researchers concerned for sailors' safety and the dwindling orca population around the Iberian peninsula.

A former SeaWorld orca trainer spoke to Bloomberg about the rise in orca attacks on boats. When sailors are out at sea, they should remember they are in the orcas' territory, Hargrove said. Given his intimate knowledge of killer whales, Hargrove believes the trend of orcas ramming into vessels is "100% predictable." Comparing orcas hitting boats to when people start "roughhousing" just for fun, it can turn aggressive quickly. In the end, "the insurance company is going to take care of the boat," Hargrove said.

Now is the time to buy SeaWorld shares, according to Goldman Sachs. Analyst Lizzie Dove initiated coverage on the Florida theme park with a buy rating. Despite investor caution on park stocks amid an uncertain macro environment, Dove said the risk has already been priced into shares. The analyst cited SeaWorld's high exposure to the growing Orlando market, which she noted gives it admissions pricing power. Dove added the park could struggle to increase its staffing due to its lower hourly wage compared to its competitors.

DeSantis already ran on being anti-Disney — and wonTaryn Fenske, DeSantis' communications director, has described the Disney fight as being "the will of Florida voters." Ron DeSantis on Thursday brushed off a lawsuit by the Walt Disney Co. over the revocation of its Orlando-area theme park's self-governing privileges as politically motivated. The lawsuit escalates the feud between Disney and DeSantis that has led to his push to strip Walt Disney World's self-governing privileges. DeSantis argued that Disney's self-governing privileges go against being "pro-business." Lawyers for the Walt Disney Co. did not immediately respond to NBC News' request for comment. "The people of Florida, they understood that this was an issue," he said, referring to Walt Disney World's self-governing privileges.

Lastly, regional theme park earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization multiples are down 15% to 20% compared to pre-Covid levels. In particular, Cedar Fair has well-invested properties and a strong recurring visitor base, which speaks to its underlying pricing power, Yeh wrote.
